Chios

Chios boat trip from Çeşme — two days, one night

Chios is the coast facing Çeşme across the strait. The route is not a day trip: two days, one night aboard, €4,000 per trip. It is an entry into Greece, so every guest needs a passport — the customs clearance and the transit log are handled by the boat.

Two days, one night — why it is not a day trip

Chios is a border, not a cove. Clearing out of Turkey and into Greece takes real time on both sides, so a same-day crossing would spend most of the day in queues rather than on the island. The route runs over two days instead: crossing and the island on day one, a night aboard, island and the return on day two. Up to three cabins are used and the route is capped at six guests.

Passports, visas and customs

No guest crosses without a valid passport — that is the one condition with no flexibility in it. The exit from Turkey, the entry into Greece and the transit log are handled by the boat; all we need from you is names and passport details a few days before departure. Nationals of most countries enter Greece on the same terms as any Schengen arrival, and Turkish passport holders can use the on-arrival visa scheme that covers Chios. Those rules shift from season to season, so we confirm the current position in writing before you book.

What is and is not in the price

€4,000 per trip. That covers captain and crew, up to three cabins for the night, the customs and transit log formalities, fuel, harbour fees and cruising permits — the port and customs charges are inside that figure, not added to it. Personal spending, meals ashore and shopping on the island are not included.

Choosing a date around the weather

This is an open-water crossing, so the forecast decides the date. When the meltemi blows hard from the northeast the captain postpones, and moving your date is free. The season runs July to October, and because the paperwork takes time we ask for requests as early as you can.

Chios crossing questions

Can we do Chios as a day trip?

No. The route is planned as two days with one night aboard — the customs formalities on both sides do not fit into a single day. It is €4,000 per trip.

Do we need passports?

Yes. Chios is Greek territory and no guest can cross without a valid passport. We need names and passport details a few days before departure.

Is a visa required?

It depends on your nationality. Chios is covered by the on-arrival visa scheme for Turkish passport holders, and the terms change from season to season — we confirm the current position in writing before you book.

Who handles the customs paperwork?

The boat does. Clearing out of Turkey, into Greece and the transit log are all included, as are the port and customs charges.

How many guests can come?

Six. The night is spent in up to three cabins: two suites and one low-ceiling cabin, with three full-height shower rooms.

What if the weather turns?

The captain decides on an open-water crossing. If it cannot be made, moving your date is free.
